Summary
Open-in-App has no accounts and no sign-in. The links you convert are processed on your own device and are not sent to our servers. The Android app is free and funded by ads from Google AdMob, and Google may collect device data to show and measure those ads, as described below.
Links you convert
On the website and in the app, a smart link is built on your device by encoding the address you paste into the link itself (for example https://open-in-app.com/#open=…). The part after # is never sent to our web server by your browser. We do not store, log or share the links you create.
The Android app keeps a list of your last eight links in its own private storage on your phone so you can copy them again. This list never leaves your device. Clear it with Clear in the app, or by uninstalling the app.
QR codes are generated on your device.
Opening links in other apps
When you use "Open in app now" or open a smart link, the address is handed to the app that handles it (for example YouTube or Spotify). That app's own privacy policy then applies.
Advertising (Android app)
The app shows banner and full-screen ads through Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. To serve, personalise, measure and protect against fraud in ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- your device's Advertising ID and other device identifiers;
- your IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- device and app information (model, operating system, language, app version);
- ad interactions, such as ad views and taps, plus diagnostics such as crash data related to ads.
This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us. Read how Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your ad choices
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown. Change your choice at any time with Privacy choices at the bottom of the app.
- Everyone: reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (the wording varies by device). You will still see ads, but they will be less relevant.
Website
The website uses no analytics, no advertising and no cookies. Like any web server, our hosting provider (Hostinger) keeps standard access logs, such as IP address, page requested, time and browser type, to operate and secure the service. These logs do not contain the links you convert.
Data sharing and sale
We do not sell personal data. Apart from the advertising processing by Google described above, we do not share data with third parties.
Security
The website is served over HTTPS. The app stores its recent-links list in Android's private app storage, which other apps cannot read.
Children
Open-in-App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, or to object to its processing. We do not hold personal data about you on our servers. For ad-related data held by Google, use the controls above or My Ad Center. For anything else, contact us.
