How to open a Reddit link in the app
- Copy the public Reddit link you want to share.
- Paste it into the generator above and select Create App Link.
- Copy the generated Open-in-App URL and share it in your bio, message, QR code, website or campaign.
- On a supported mobile device, the link attempts the native app first and keeps the original URL as a fallback.

Why Reddit links may open in a browser
Reddit links are often opened in a browser first, especially from chat apps. On Android, a package-targeted intent can request the Reddit app; if that does not succeed, the original Reddit URL is preserved.
Tips for reliable Reddit app links
- Use the Share link from the Reddit post when possible.
- redd.it short URLs are accepted as web fallbacks.
- NSFW, private and quarantined community rules still apply.
App opener vs normal link
A normal HTTPS link is universally compatible but may stay in a browser. An app opener adds a native-app attempt before the web fallback. This is useful when the best experience—playback, navigation, messaging, saved content or logged-in state—lives inside the installed app.
