How to open a WhatsApp link in the app
- Copy the public WhatsApp link you want to share.
- Paste it into the generator above and select Create App Link.
- Copy the generated Open-in-App URL and share it in your bio, message, QR code, website or campaign.
- On a supported mobile device, the link attempts the native app first and keeps the original URL as a fallback.

Why WhatsApp links may open in a browser
A wa.me link can encode a phone number and optional message. The tool preserves the web fallback while using the WhatsApp URL scheme for supported phone-based links.
Tips for reliable WhatsApp app links
- Phone numbers in wa.me links should include the international country code.
- Do not include spaces, + symbols or punctuation in the wa.me phone path.
- Prefilled message text is still editable by the user before sending.
App opener vs normal link
A normal HTTPS link is universally compatible but may stay in a browser. An app opener adds a native-app attempt before the web fallback. This is useful when the best experience—playback, navigation, messaging, saved content or logged-in state—lives inside the installed app.
